Researching: JEROVIC, JIROVEC, DUSEK, WALENTA
I am looking for more information on family names: Jerovic / Jirovec, Dusek, Walenta. My grandmother, Lillian Jirovec and her sister Josephine emigrated to the US in June 1911 aboard the Prinz Friedrich Wilhelm. They arrived in NY city where there was an uncle living, Frank Dusek. Lillian and Josephine were from Bohemia; their parents were Jakob Jirovec and Kristina Dusek. I have a copy of a First Communion paper from Kristina dated 1875; the church was in Susice - I am trying to locate more information about this town. On the ship's registry of 1911, there is the name of another uncle (Kristina's brother), Victor Dusek. Towns on the registry look like Visky and Malec; however I am not sure as the handwriting is difficult to dicipher. I am trying to find any information on these family names and towns. Lillian married Michael Walenta in NY city in 1917; Michael was from Vienna. They later moved to Corning, NY where Michael worked for the Corning Glass Works. Any information would be appreciated, as well as suggestions to further my search.

Researching: VELEHRADSKY
Searching for information on persons having the surname Velehradsky. My Grandfather, Jan Velehradsky, came to the United States in 1891, and my father in 1903. Other than my family, who settled in Omaha, Nebraska, the only other persons in the U. S. unknown to me reside in Elmwood Park, New Jersey. I have located two families in the Czech Republic. My family came from the area near Hermanice in Eastern Bohemia, The name originated in Moravia. In 1556, Bartholomej Velehradsky was knighted in Uherske Hradiste, Moravia. In the late 1600's and early 1700's Frantisek Josef Velehradsky was a well-known artist in Prostejov, Moravia. Since the name is rare, I am curious to determine if there is family link.

Researching: EFFENBERGER
I do not have much information but I would like to contact any relatives, particularly those who might live in Nymburk since I do not know much about them. My father was Emil Frank Effenberger who was a refugee to Australia then Canada after World War II. I believe that he had a brother Frank and sister Eva, both older than he, who remained in the Czech Republic. I think my father and mother Janet, an Australian, kept in contact with my family in the 1960s when we lived in Santa Monica California USA, but lost contact afterwards. I am now living in Australia and would love to know more about my Czech heritage, and for my children, as my father and I became estranged from the 1960s to the 1990s and he died in 1993 under tragic circumstances. If anyone can assist me to find relatives or other information, please contact me soon.

I would also like to find a map of Bohemia in the 1890's. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Researching: CERNIN, KODELKA, VELTRUSKI, WELTRUSKI, LEDVINKA
I am interested in information on my grandparents who settled in Nebraska. My grandfather immigrated from Yugoslavia (Daruvar) in the 1915-1920 time period. He first came to St. Louis where he joined his father Franjo who had earlier come to the states. His father went back to Yugoslavia and never returned because he died in the war. My grandfather, Josif (Joseph) moved on to the Clarkson, Colfax, Schuyler, NE area where he met, Pauline Cernin, my grandmother. They both spoke Bohemian and their children did not speak English until they started school. They moved on to St. Edward, NE around 1935 where they purchased a farm. The children (Frank & Joseph (twins), Libby, Milo, Marie and Mildred have very little information about their mother's family and little is known about my grandfather's family except their names: Franjo Veltruski and Marija Ledvinka and a sister named Barbara. I have noted Family Tree Maker's Genealogy Site: User Home Page for Descendants of Jan Cernin from Clarkson, Colfax, Nebraska but have not been able to access. Any information would be very helpful. I am the daughter of Marie Weltruski Woods who now lives in Iowa. I'm researching the Cernin family history. My grandmother, Pauline Cernin was from the Clarkson, Colfax Co., Nebraska area. She had a brother with the Cernin surname also. I presume her family could have arrived there between 1850 and 1900. She was born in 1900. Her mother married a second time into the KODELKA family and I believe there were three daughters. One of the Kodelka daughters married a John Jura, I believe. My grandmother Pauline married Joseph F. Weltruski, an immigrant from Duravar, Yugoslavia, who arrived in the Clarkson area in the 1915-1920 time frame. They lived in the Clarkson, Schuyler area and had six children: Frank, Joseph, Libby, Milo, Marie and Mildred. In 1935 they purchased a farm near St. Edward, Nebraska. Pauline Cernin Weltruski died in 1950. My grandfather, Joseph Weltruski died in 1967.
