Researching: RAMBOUSEK, KREKEROVA, PAVLISH, SRSEN, SENN
Researching Rambousek, Krekerova. I am looking for information about Anna Krekerova who was born about 1841 in Chrudim in Bohemia. She migrated to the area of the Ukraine and married Vaclav Rambousek. They settled in a village named Czechohrad (this village was renamed Novgorodkivka in 1946). Vaclav Rambousek was killed in a mill accident and Anna came to the U.S. in May, 1888 through the Port of New York. She brought with her a daughter, Mary (who would later marry Joseph Pavlish) and a son, Joseph ( born 1859 in Czechohrad) and his wife Marie (Srsen) Rambousek. They settled in New Hradec, North Dakota, USA. Anna (Krekerova) Rambousek remarried in the U.S. to a Joseph Senn. He deserted her. They had no children together. If anyone can give me information about the village of Chrudim in the Czech Republic, the village of Novgorodkivka in the Ukraine, or Vaclav and Anna (Krekerova) Rambousek.

Researching: PONEC, PONCE, KORAN, SVATEK, REZAC, VACLAV, PRASEK
Looking for information regarding the name Ponec. Great-grandfather Rudolph Ponec, b. 28 FEB l859. settled in Omaha NE. He supposedly came from Smecna. I am also looking for a book titled,"Dejiny Cech a Moravy nove doby" written by Koran, Svatek, Rezac, and Prasek. I am primarily interested in the volumes written by Justin Vaclav Prasek. I am in search of a reference or documentation concerning the name Ponec and how it was probably once Ponce. I have been told that people of Spain emmigrated to Bohemia in the l6-l7 Century. I understand a Prasek wrote about this in an effort to claim his wife's nobility. His wife's maiden name was Ponec. To claim nobility, the book or documentation would have had to be written prior to l9l8.

Researching: VONDRAK, VON DRAK, VON DRACHE, KOLAR
Researching Vondrak, Von Drak, von Drak, Von Drache, von Drache, Kolar. Searching for information on the origin of the Vondrak, Von Drak, von Drak, Von Drache, von Drache, and Kolar names. Anton Vondrak was born 11/11/1856 in Picek, Bohemia and was married to Anna Kolar also born in Picek in 1858. They immigrated to Cleveland, Ohio sometime in the 1880's. I received a letter several years ago from a Von Drache who said that both the Von Drache name which is German and Von Drak of Bohemian origin are from the same family. The similarity is in the Drache which is the word "dragon" in German and Drak, which is "dragon" in Bohemian.

My grandfather was born June 6, 1889 somewhere in what was Czechoslovakia. Researching: SKARKA (SH-KAR-KA), LEBINA, LEBEDA, LEDVINA
I am researching my father's family. My Great Grandfather's name was Frantisek (Franz, Frank) Josef Skarka. The Czech spelling of this name has a little inverted arrowhead over the "S" and it is supposedly pronounced "Sh-kar-ka". Frank was born in Caslav, Bohemia in 1875. I have since learned that Caslav is actually a region as well as a village. Recent research indicates he may have come from the village of Hrabesin and may have been baptized in a church in Trebonin. I won't be able to find this out for several months yet, as all the research libraries in The Czech Republic are closed for the summer. The 1900 Federal Census for New York City indicates that Frank immigrated to the US in 1885. In 1896 he married my Great Grandmother, Frantiska (Frances, Fanny) Lebina (Lebeda, Ledvina). Here it gets a little confusing, because there is some question as to her exact maiden surname. The same Census says she was born in Prague in 1877 and immigrated to the US in 1892. There is also a possibility that at least one of Frank's brothers remained in the Caslav area. His name was Jan Skarka. I seem to be narrowing in on family connections in The Czech Republic. If anyone out there has any information on any of these names or places, I would really appreciate hearing from you..

Researching: MACHAC, MAZAC, BOBICA, HEGA
Looking for two families: Parents and siblings of Paul Machac, born Oct. 4, 1868 somewhere in or near Vsetin or Hovezi in Moravia, and parents and siblings of Rosina/Rosa Mazac, born Feb. 14, 1878 in/near Hovezi, Moravia. Paul was Lutheran, had siblings: Joseph, Martin (Luther?), John and Anna. Father may have been Joseph, and may have been in dairy business. Paul was youngest, and immigrated to US about 1892 +/-. Came to Galveston, then into Texas. Nothing else known for about 10 years. Rosina Mazac was Catholic. Had an older sister in Moravia, and was raised by grandparents after parents died young. She came to Galveston about 1900, with friends, Anna Bobica and Martin and Anna Hega (sp?). Met Paul. First son, Lewis born in St. Louis in 1904. Later ones born in Louisiana. They never went back to TX, finally farming in Arkansas. A Jan Machac, from Hovezi, who came over in 1905 and was naturalized in Waller Co., TX, may have been a cousin or nephew. Paul's brothers, Martin and John Machac, came over several years after he did and lived in either Wisconsin or Michigan. Does anyone know anything about any of these names? either here or in Moravia? Would appreciate any clue!
